Music Monday Oct 10: beabadoobee

There is a radio show on CBC here in Canada that occasionally does a feature called SYNTH: Songs You Need To Hear.

Now, I can’t say to someone, “You’ll like this song” (or book for that matter) because I can’t presume that others will share my taste in music (or books), so it is safer to say, “You might like this” and if they don’t like it, so be it.

Maybe you will find a new favorite.

Beeba what?

Beatrice Kristi Laus, known professionally as beabadoobee, is a Filipino-British singer-songwriter. From 2018 to 2021, she released five extended plays under the independent label Dirty Hit: Lice, Patched Up, Loveworm, Space Cadet and Our Extended Play.

CBC has been playing this song in heavy rotation. I have to admit it has grown on me enough to share it with you.

After checking out some of her other songs, I can say that The Perfect Pair is a lot less edgy than the other songs I found.

Violence warning at about 2:15.

If you can tell me who I think she sounds like, let me know, I haven’t been able to pin it down.

  1. Never heard of her but I quite liked these. Good luck working out who she reminds you of: just about any other female singer you could think of would be my guess. But I’ll give you Nina Nesbitt as a suggestion 😊
