There is a radio show on CBC here in Canada that occasionally does a feature called SYNTH: Songs You Need To Hear.
Now, I can’t say to someone, “You’ll like this song” (or book for that matter) because I can’t presume that others will share my taste in music (or books), so it is safer to say, “You might like this” and if they don’t like it, so be it.
Maybe you will find a new favorite.
It always takes guts to cover a song by a popular artist or band. Unlike any other artistic work, music can be reimagined in different ways.
Hey Ya, by OutKast takes on a whole new dimension in this cover.
Mat Weddle, better known by his stage and recording name Obadiah Parker, is a singer-songwriter from Scottsdale, Arizona. He has released an EP, a live CD which contains a mixture of covers and original material, an EP of covers, and a full-length studio album of original material.

Interesting, but I’m not sure it completely worked. The best cover I’ve seen of this is by your fellow Canadians, Walk Off The Earth. Their usual blend of musicianship, humour, timing and lunacy.

It’s on YouTube. Like most things they do it’s a lot of fun.
