Weekend Wrap-up July 16: Writing Update

I put my next book for pre-order on Amazon earlier this month. This creates two challenges:

One: It’s not ready yet. I am putting the finishing touches on it before sending it to my editor at the end of the month. She’s pretty quick so I will have it formatted for it’s release on Sept 30.

Two: Since it is book two of a trilogy, I have to market to the readers who have read book one, and I have to market book one to new readers. Once the trilogy is complete it should be easier because I’ll only have to market the first book, right?

I know what you’re thinking—
You do?
You’re thinking, “Isn’t writing a trilogy just a cash grab. Why not just put them all in one volume?”
Oh. Yeah. I was thinking that. So?
Well, if I did, you wouldn’t have The View from Here to read and it would be at least another year for the full manuscript to be complete. Also, Book One can be read as a stand-alone, so you don’t need to make the investment if you didn’t enjoy it.
You should put it in a box set when it’s done.
