I put less pressure on myself by not committing to 30 poems/30 days. I do like crafting poems, though. It is a rush when inspiration hits and the words flow effortlessly.
Currently, I am working on the sequel to my first novella. The story is done, and I am going through each chapter with one of my readers to work out any continuity problems or stupid dialogue. In a burst of imagination, I wrote the first page and the ending of the third book. At least I know where it is going.
The View From Here, started as a short story, evolved into a failed novel (is that what a novella is?), and forced a trilogy to be in the works. Could you slap them all together to make a novel? I suppose, but the first book kinda ends, so if you didn’t like it, you could leave it at that. If you got attached to the characters, well there’s two more books to go.
Along with that, I often have ideas jump into my head for short stories, so I write those down and plug away at them. Throw in my composition and recording attempts, and there are a lot of stuff on the plate—and I’m a slow eater. . .
Will there be a poem today? We’ll see.
