On Thursday, I wrote about the ongoing climate crisis. This morning I woke up to hear that July was the hottest month. In the entire world. Ever (well, in the last 2000 years at least). I assumed that they (the scientists) kinda guessed at the global temperatures that long ago. I don’t doubt them since they have been right about a lot of things.
Not the news we wanted to hear. I expect this will be the norm for the near future. The Covid crisis showed that we are a global society, that we are not isolated counties.
Is this the next wake-up call, or do we hit the snooze button once again?

Just a reminder:
Leon Stevens is a multi-genre author, composer, guitarist, songwriter, and an artist, with a Bachelor of Music and Education. He published his first book of poetry, Lines by Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures in January 2020, followed by a book of original classical guitar compositions, Journeys, and a short story collection of science fiction/post-apocalyptic tales called The Knot at the End of the Rope and Other Short Stories. His newest publications are the novella trilogy, The View from Here, which is a continuation of one of his short stories, and a new collection of poetry titled, A Wonder of Words.

July had some of the coldest days South Africa has experienced in 70 years, Leon. Strange and scary times.
