Got my first dose of the A/Z vaccine yesterday. Others that I knew who got it before me had various degrees of side affects, from mild fever and headaches to the lying-in-bed-kill-me-now-I-need-coffee-but-it-makes-me-wretch-chills-sweats-where-did-the-last-36-hours-go, extreme end of the spectrum.
So, needless to say, I was nervous. Now, you know how when you hear things like that, you automatically think every little twinge/ache/rumble is the beginning of the end. – Was that feeling there before or is that a new thing?
It’s like when I accidentally watched the show on bedbugs and every little movement of hair on my body was obviously an invitation – Why am I sooo itchy?
11:30 – Got the shot. Didn’t hurt (didn’t look)
11:50 – Lovely receptionist (Lori) gives me the boot. “You’re good to go.“
2:00 – Why does my upper back hurt?
2:10 – Twinge? Hmmm…
3:00 – Do my eyes hurt or am I just tired…(just tired, just tired , just tired…)
4:00 – Arm kinda sore, I think.
4:30 – Two songs are going through my head: The Waiting is the Hardest Part – Tom Petty (self explanatory) and Every Little Thing – The Police (as in was that a symptom? Wait. What about that?)
5:30 – Eat. Good sign
6:00 – A bit stuffed up, I can feel a headache – or can I? I don’t know anymore… I tried to do some writing (other than this), but not feeling inspired. And I have to write another poem tomorrow. Curse you NaPoWriMo!!! Screw it. I’m just going to watch some TV.
9:00 – Body a bit sore, but could be due to couch posture…
9:30 – Bedtime.
1:34 – Cold sweat
1:45 – Hot sweat
2:03 – Repeat previous two steps several times with a dash of headache
3:36 – OK, I’m up.
4:10 – Doze off, wake-up, doze off, etc.
6:00 – Still not feeling great, but I think the worst is over. Coffee + muffin. Yum.

I had 6 weeks of after-effects. No thanks to a second dose, lol.
